Max Spiers, a prominent British UFO researcher, has been found dead under what appear to be suspicious circumstances. The thirty-nine year old Canterbury native was a frequent speaker at UFO conferences and was working on a new book about the shadowy wrongdoings of alleged villainous politicians and entertainers around the world. Spiers was found dead on a sofa of a friend in Poland, where he had travelled to give a presentation at a UFO conference. Friends and family reported that Spiers was in perfect health and very fit at the time of his death.
To make Spiers’ death more mysterious, several eyewitnesses reported that Spiers vomited a mysterious black liquid shortly before his death. A post-mortem toxicology report is still being conducted. Meanwhile, Polish authorities ruled Spiers’ death was due to “natural causes.” Polish police have refused to release any official documentation of Spiers’ death to his mother aside from a death certificate.
Spiers’ mother Vanessa Bates told the Telegraph that Spiers was rising in popularity in the UFO and conspiracy theory worlds. Shortly before he was found dead, Spiers had hinted to his mother that he was on the trail of what appeared to be a vast conspiracy that might have implicated several high-profile figures:
He was making a name for himself in the world of conspiracy theorists and had been invited to speak at a conference in Poland in July. He was staying with a woman who he had not known for long and she told me how she found him dead on the sofa. […] I think Max had been digging in some dark places and I fear that somebody wanted him dead.
To add to the speculation that Spiers had dug too deep into an unknown sinister plot, there is the curious text message he sent his mother. Just days before Spiers was found dead, he apparently sent a text message to his mother which suggests he foresaw his impending death:
Your boy’s in trouble. If anything happens to me, investigate.
Spiers’ mother also claims to have heard “Satanic rituals” being carried out over Spiers’ body as she spoke with his roommates over the phone. Some sources have speculated that Spiers had been investigating some sort of black magic coven or group of shadowy occultists that might be responsible for his death. Others have claimed Spiers survived a secret super soldier program and was about to go public with his experiences. Could this be another case of a researcher digging too deep and getting too close to some dangerous truth? Unfortunately, due to the mysterious circumstances of Spiers’ death and the resulting investigation, we may never know.
Spiers was a father of two. Spiers’ family and friends have created a GoFundMe campaign to help with his burial and memorial costs.
